Since 1976, Shelby has been empowering churches with the tools they need to build faithful stewards. Founder Ernie Hamilton developed a strong background in fund accounting while establishing a data processing center at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Feeling a calling to serve the church with the talents and vision God had given him, Ernie began the ground-breaking mission of producing computing tools for ministries with Shelby Systems.
With a growing team and financial suite, enhancements continued into Shelby’s membership and prospect tracking tools and churches began experiencing improved community outreach, as well as increased volunteer and member assimilation. Ernie's vision had become a reality and a world-wide ministry.
In the almost 40 years that Shelby has been serving the church community, the mission of making disciples has never wavered. With ShelbyNext, we strive to do this better. The vision of ShelbyNext is to continue to support and enhance the products churches love, while expanding our product offering to provide more SaaS-based solutions. The result is a fully-integrated ecosystem of cloud-based software solutions called ShelbyNext.
Traditionally, church technology has been very segmented. Often, churches have separate providers for church management software (ChMS), online giving, mobile apps, websites and another for financial or accounting software. We sought to create an eco-system of these daily tools to provide one sign-in for the church and the user. This enables each product to come at a more affordable price point that will serve churches of all sizes.

We built ShelbyNext for all churches. This includes large churches, but also very small churches and church plants. Some congregations tend to think Shelby is too big for them. We’re changing that with ShelbyNext. Our products and pricing are specifically tuned to fit any size congregation, because we want the best tools in the hands of every church.
